Ancient Graveyard

This is Frensham Common between the two ponds. It's been a while since fire reshaped this area. It still reminded my of some ancient graveyard where the burnt relics of trees lay about like skeletons.

Bending Trees

I created a image called growing towards the light. See it here using freehand movement of the camera. I wanted to revisit this concept with my new Sony A7mkii which I've now had for several months. This time, however, I wanted to use a tripod and 2 heads to give me more consistent movement. This image below is one of the results of that shoot. I had to adjust the various angles of the set up to give me the picture I wanted and this is one of the ones I really like. More thoughts on the Sony A7mkii another time. I spent the Sunday photographing The Redbull Timelaps which is a 25hr cycle race. 25 hours because this was the night the clocks went back. I really admire the riders, support crews ad organizers as it was really cold with several periods of rain during the race. It's raced in teams of 4 so you have turns out on track. It's a horrible yet strangely challenging thought to have to cycle for a couple of hours then get cold and stiff and then have to go out again. I wanted to capture the movement and speed of the riders so I used a panning technique which blurred the background. You have to try and pan at the speed the riders pass you so you can keep them relatively sharp. Believe me there were many misses but I did manage to get quite a few shots that I'm really pleased with. Here's just a few so you can see the effect. I hope you enjoy them.
